What to Expect During an In-Home IV Appointment

In-home IV therapy is a relatively new experience, and though it is rapidly increasing in popularity, there are still plenty of people who have never booked an appointment and might be wondering what to expect. At ASAP IVs, we aim to offer a convenient, relaxing, and of course, safe experience – so we wanted to share a few quick notes about what to expect in your upcoming appointment to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible!

Prior to the appointment

Unless you are paying via Venmo or cash (both acceptable options), you will likely have paid for your appointment using our online portal when you booked your appointment.

Expect a confirmation text shortly before your appointment from the physician or registered nurse conducting your IV therapy, letting you know they are on their way and/or confirming any necessary details for arrival.

During the appointment

Our providers will arrive in uniform at the arranged time (or even a few minutes early!), introduce themselves, and begin to get set up. They may ask you some health-related questions – preferred arm for IV site, for example. During this time, feel free to ask any questions or share any concerns you might have about the upcoming therapy. Our providers are there to not only provide the IV of your preference, but to ensure that you feel comfortable throughout the entire appointment!

The provider will sanitize the IV site, prepare the select IV bag, and insert the IV once you are seated somewhere comfortable. We use pediatric sized IVs – the smallest size – to minimize any discomfort with inserting the IV. (Please know, trypanophobia or fear of needles is a common condition; communicate with your provider if you suffer from this so we can best support you in a fear-free experience!). IV drips typically take about 30-45 minutes to fully disperse. Though you will need to remain seated and relatively still so the IV needle doesn’t move, feel free to use this time to chat with your providers, watch TV, read, or play on your phone! Whatever makes you feel most relaxed and at-ease.

If at any time you experience any pain, please let us know!

After the bag is empty, your provider will remove the needle and provide you with a bandage and a handy ASAP sticker.

After the appointment

The effects of the IV usually occur as quick as 15-20 minutes, though it does vary slightly based on the individual. You should begin feeling hydrated and ready to go shortly after the appointment has concluded!

Though it is not required by any means, if you are satisfied with the service you received, it is common to tip providers using either Venmo or cash. We also love when you share about your experiences – whether that’s posting on social media or leaving a review on Google. Word of mouth is crucial to small businesses like ours, and we value your feedback!

And of course, book us again! We love and appreciate our regular customers!
