How to Plan the Perfect Tailgate

Football season is back and that can only mean one thing: TAILGATING (which, in my humble opinion, is hands-down the best part of the whole affair). What could be better than eating delicious food, wearing spirited outfits, and engaging in some friendly competition with your loved ones?

Whether you’re a tailgating pro or a rookie at the whole parking lot party thing, here are a few tips to make sure your game day is a winner.

Food and Drink

Tailgating can be an all-day activity, so you definitely don’t want hanger to interfere with your fun. While BBQ-ing is the traditional route (and no doubt a delicious choice!), it may still be too hot at the beginning of the season to labor over a hot grill! Catering might be a good option! Many restaurants have party tray options that can easily feed a crowd.

And, of course, don’t forget the beverages – both for hydration and merrymaking. Having enough water and sports drinks on hand can keep a fun day in the sun from being a medical emergency. For those who drink alcohol at tailgates, beer is the traditional beverage. However, depending on the time of the game, it may be fun to offer other themed options like mimosas or Bloody Mary’s. Encouraging your guests to BYOB can also make sure there’s a wide variety of drinks for everyone!

Activities

It’s a common misconception that the actual football game is the focal point of tailgating. Personally, I’d rather stay at the tailgate than have to go sit in the crowded, hot bleachers for a few hours. Setting up your tailgate with some fun and creature comforts makes your parking spot a place people don’t want to leave.

Cornhole or a football to toss around are quick and easy options. If you have access to electricity, you can bring music or even plug in a TV so those outside the stadium can enjoy the game too!

Apparel and Decor

You do have to set up and take down your tailgate party before and after, so it is important to not go too crazy with decorating. Of course, some festive tablecloths or themed paper plates and cups do go a long way.

And perhaps it goes without saying, but don’t forget to don your team’s colors!

IV Therapy

Last but not least, take your tailgating experience to the next level by booking IV therapy! Whether you want a boost of hydration to pregame your pregame, or you want to follow up your party with some recovery time, an IV is sure to have you feeling your best after game day.

We have yet to deliver IV services at an actual tailgate, but if you’re game to bring your party into the 21st century, book today!
